Introduction

The use of CCTV, often referred to as surveillance systems, can have a chilling effect on the way in which people behave, interact with each other, or the places that they may choose to visit.

Because of this, data protection law governs how organisations should process personal data that is gathered via CCTV.

This virtual classroom session will examine the most recent case law and guidance regarding data protection and CCTV.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • When and where CCTV is typically used and how case law puts constraints on such use
  • Checks and assessments that organisations should do before installing and using CCTV in light of case law
  • Extra safeguards that are required in various circumstances when using CCTV including case law examples
  • Ongoing considerations for organisations when using CCTV so as to comply with data protection law and avoid fines and penalties
  • Various situations where CCTV issues may arise such as being part of the due diligence in M&A transactions when a buyer is taking over a seller’s business and where that seller’s business uses CCTV

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
