Introduction

This new webinar is for those who have a basic understanding of how capital acquisitions tax (‘CAT’) arises and when it applies but who want to develop their understanding to be better placed to advise clients as to the ways they may be able to mitigate exposure to CAT with advanced planning and structuring of their assets.

This can be a particularly important issue when advising clients with a business or farm to ensure the correct pre-planning is undertaken to obtain the relevant reliefs to the maximum extent and avoid a scenario where part of the business/farm has to be sold to pay the tax.

What You Will Learn

The webinar will cover the following:

  • What is estate planning?
  • Timing considerations around estate planning and when it can be particularly beneficial for clients to engage with it
  • The different estate planning vehicles and the CAT benefits of each
  • A summary of business property and agricultural reliefs and how to plan ahead to make the most of them

This webinar was recorded on 30th June 2021
