Introduction
Badly injured claimants generally have high care needs which may run to millions of pounds and be lifelong. There will be a need for supporting evidence from the claimant and the immediate family. Care experts will assess the needs, usually by visiting the claimant at home and preparing reports.
This webinar will explain how that evidence can be used most effectively and what should be sought from the expert. It will also consider ancillary care issues such as prosthetics and physiotherapy which may disclose substantial financial claims in themselves.
This webinar is recommended for those involved in high value, complex claims arising from clinical negligence or personal injury.
What You Will Learn
This webinar will cover the following:
- An overview of what is meant by care need
- Understanding of the factual evidence required to inform the claim
- Use of factual evidence from family and friends
- Surveillance and its implications if insurers dispute the extent of care need
- Consideration of the necessary medical evidence
- Analysing the report - rates of care, hours required and future changes
- Special problems disclosed by live-in carers and care at night
- Worked examples to illustrate how a care claim should be presented
