Introduction
This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for legal professionals who may need to draft or review contracts for use between a trader and a consumer.
There will be emphasis on practical issues that may arise in the drafting process, from an experienced practitioner.
What You Will Learn
This live and interactive course will cover the following:
- When is a contract a consumer contract, and what are the implications for this?
- Distance contracts - what are the information requirements of the Consumer Contracts (Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and how should a trader comply with them?
- What cancellation rights does the consumer have and how should a trader comply with its obligations?
- Unfair contract terms - what are the key provisions of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and what are the risks for traders?
- Examples of common clauses that might be considered unfair, and how to draft so as to avoid such a challenge
- The future - is the position likely to change as a result of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024?
