Introduction
This new webinar considers the risks and potential liability of the architect both under appointments and under building contracts.
It will also examine limiting duties and risks and understanding those duties and risks.
What You Will Learn
This webinar will cover the following:
- Getting the appointment right - limiting duties, specifying duties, and narrowly limiting liability and claims for damages
- Understanding the architect’s authority and the limits of the authority under building contracts, to bind the employer
- Distinguishing permanent works and temporary works and the architect’s responsibilities
- Delegation of design responsibility
- Administration of contracts
- Reasonable skill and care and professional indemnity insurance - any higher duty of care?
- Concurrent duties in contract and negligence
- Advising/warning of risks of new techniques
- Specific duties - including examination of site, delivery of drawings on time, instructions as to methods of working, knowledge of legislation and building regulations
- Cost control; recommending builders; the certification process
