Seminar 6 UpdateInformation
SRA Competency B

Introduction

After the turmoil of 2022, 2023 and 2024 have been more stable for UK corporate tax matters. However, we have seen the rise of the CT rate to 25% and the introduction of full expensing for plant and machinery.

The October 2024 Budget saw little change in corporate tax matters and is, in general, a continuation of the previous government’s policies in this area. The impact of the changes over the last two years will be examined during this seminar.

One of the major issues is whether incorporation is actually the right strategy for small and medium sized businesses. This will be is looked at in greater detail as many of the underlying assumptions have been changed by the tax and NI changes.

Internationally we have seen the widespread adoption of the OECD Pillar 2 which introduces an effective 15% minimum CT rate. The UK has put these rules into its domestic legislation. The effect of this, and the impact of the Trump Presidency on international corporate tax matters, will also be considered.

Finally, this seminar will review the substantial changes to the R&D tax regime.

Presented by expert speaker Jeremy Mindell, this comprehensive in-person seminar assumes that participants already have a basic level of corporation tax knowledge but wish to understand the impact of these latest changes in more detail. It is ideal for those who advise, plan or deal with corporate tax compliance and anyone who works in the corporate tax field.
