Introduction

Every year millions of people in the UK have their holidays or business trips ruined by delayed or cancelled flights yet many do not know they have a right to claim hundreds of pounds of compensation from their airline.

The Aviation (Consumers) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 (‘ACAR 2023’) governs UK claims for flight delay and cancellation claims. It made amendments to the retained EU Regulation261/2004. The unamended EU Regulation 261/2004 will remain applicable for any applicable EU claims for flight delay and cancellation claims.
