SRA Competency B

Introduction

Social media is being used to market financial services more and more frequently, but the marketing channels and opportunities being created by the growth of social media do not neatly fit with FCA marketing expectations.

The FCA has expressed concerns that firms are not giving adequate thought to complying with the requirements of the Conduct of Business Rules and that investors could be misled by noncompliant financial promotions.

This new live broadcast session is essential for those who are advising FCA-regulated firms about achieving compliance with the FCA marketing requirements as applied to social media channels. A basic understanding of the FCA marketing requirements as set out in the Conduct of Business Rules would be helpful but not essential.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • Legislative context of the Financial Promotions Rules and social media promotions
  • Refresher on the breadth and nature of the financial promotions requirements and an examination of the potential issues
  • Understand the requirements of Finalised Guidance 24-1 Finalised Guidance on Financial Promotions on Social Media and Finalised Guidance 15/4 Social media and customer communications - The FCA's supervisory approach to financial promotions in social media and how to apply them in practice
  • Practical strategies for compliant social media promotions governance

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
