Introduction
This webinar will be of benefit to litigators undertaking applications under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme who are likely to represent clients who are relatives or dependents of victims of homicide.
It will address who are the qualifying group of those who are entitled to an award under the Scheme and the circumstances in which compensation can be awarded, including the eligibility criteria and possible reasons for refusal. It will also consider the different types of compensation that can be awarded and the evidence that will be required to satisfy the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority that administers the Scheme, and how to compile it effectively.
The webinar also covers what happens in the event of the early death of an applicant and a comparison with civil damages.
