Introduction

In modern trusts, settlors frequently choose to divide responsibility for certain matters, entrusting control of the trust assets not solely with trustees.

Sometimes this involves reservation of powers to the settlor themselves, and frequently protectors play a role in trustee decision-making.

How does this work in practice - and what is best practice when advising settlors?

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • How can responsibilities under a trust be divided between trustees, other powerholders (such as protectors) and beneficiaries?
  • What roles can and should a settlor retain?
  • How do protectors reach decisions and what matters do they need to take into account?
  • What pitfalls are there for trustees, protectors and advisers when there are multiple fiduciaries appointed under the terms of a trust?

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
