You may be a very good lawyer but if you fail to combine this with a business-like approach to conveyancing then profitability might elude you.

As well as the numerous technical regulations to contend with, you have to ask - why do work that simply doesn’t pay well or even makes a loss, and why not concentrate instead on those cases which can yield a decent fee? Always with an eye on your professional codes of conduct, there is always scope to make your conveyancing work more rewarding financially.

  • Turning away work - may be just what you need. How to handle the awkward client and getting rid of clients. Difficulties in terminating the retainer
  • Don’t do work for nothing - mortgages, and SDLT returns, dangers of gratuitous advice
