Introduction

Trust and transparency are vital to the continued survival of all organisations in a world dominated by social media. Reputations can be changed in a few hours, let alone days. Actors, some of whom have malign intentions towards your organization can undermine its reputation with its stakeholders. Once that reputation is lost or severely damaged, recovery can be slow and painful.

This virtual classroom session is designed to help lawyers and general counsel understand the nature of reputational risk, how it can damage you and the steps that you can take to create a framework that helps you maintain a resilient approach to its management. Drawing on some real-life examples, the session will consider the mistakes made by those trying to manage a crisis as well as examples of positive reputation management.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • What is reputational risk and where does it sit in the hierarchy of risks
  • Identifying possible risk events that would cause reputational damage and your appetite for such risks
  • Understanding your stakeholders and their ‘essential outcomes”
  • Wider society and your social license to operate
  • People, people, people and then other things - prioritizing your response
  • The arc of a reputational crisis and your responses at different stages
  • Gain insight into the nature of reputational risks and the forces that affect it
  • Understand the role of media (including social media) and how that impacts your resilience strategy
