Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for those who act for rural landowners and others looking to understand more about occupiers’ liability and how this impacts the use and occupation of rural land.

The session will provide you with knowledge and practical examples of how occupiers’ liability applies in Scotland, the responsibilities of landowners and occupiers and will look at some of the case law in this area.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • The Occupiers’ Liability (Scotland) Act 1960 and its application to the rural sector
  • The duties of care owed by occupiers towards those coming onto land
  • The factors influencing the level of duty of care
  • Areas of concern such as machinery, livestock and natural features of the land
  • Relevant case law
