Introduction

In-house lawyers are increasingly being asked to manage projects: whether they be transactions, managing legal operations or business transformation projects. However, not all lawyers have had any training when called on to deliver successful projects. Furthermore, many projects fail to deliver their objectives and may even go seriously wrong.

This virtual classroom session provides a simple structure that all in-house lawyers can adopt. It gives some insight into the highs and lows that occur within projects, offering real life examples of what can go wrong.

Delegates will receive checklists, samples of plans and work through the anatomy of the type of project they may have to handle.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • The role of the project manager and how to define the roles of others
  • Creating the project plan - setting the project objectives and measures of success
  • How to prepare a risk based, proportionate and executable project plan
  • Identifying the stakeholders - who is doing what? How to use tools such as RASCI, triage and resource allocation methods
  • What risks derail projects and how to manage them
  • Establishing governance
  • Identifying and managing project risks
  • Project management - using soft skills to achieve good outcomes
  • What to do when things go wrong

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
