Introduction

As more developers and property owners opt for small scale renewable energy installations, whether solar, wind, AD or CHP, advisers have to become familiar with the legal process and consent regimes for grid connection.

This new virtual classroom seminar will explain the jargon, introduce the relevant bodies, regulatory and consent regimes, and walk you through the process that leads to successful grid connections and entitlement to join energy incentive schemes.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Understanding the jargon
  • Understanding the application and connection process
  • Determining whether your client needs a grid connection
  • The role of planning consent and listed building consent
  • Environmental assessments
  • Other relevant regimes
  • The key clauses in connection agreements
  • What is an NSIP and why are so many projects 49.9MW?
  • What does the jargon mean? What is a DNO? What is a PoC? Distribution connection or transmission connection? What are contestable and non-contestable works?
  • What is the difference between a community power network and a private wire system?
  • What is the process, and timescale, for connection?
