Course Outline
Introduction
This virtual classroom seminar will cover the law and practice governing the admissions process to mainstream schools in England, excluding the privately funded sector.
The live session will consider the process for admissions, what happens when there are more applicants than places, oversubscription criteria and their lawfulness, decision making around admissions and the parent's right to appeal a decision not offering their child a place at a specific school. Infant class size appeals, and in-year applications will also be considered.

- The lawfulness of oversubscription criteria and how they should be applied
- The appeals process, including the two-stage test and remedies available
