Introduction
There are no sentencing guidelines on the offence of intentional non-fatal strangulation and courts have resorted to those issued for ABH.
The Court of Appeal has recently given guidance and there are a number of authorities which will assist both prosecutors and defence advocates when making submissions on allocation, venue for sentence and on sentence itself.
