Introduction

The Charities Act 2022 received Royal Assent on 24 February 2022 and provisions were brought into force on 7 March 2024 giving the Charity Commission new powers to confirm defective or potentially defective trustee appointments and to authorise trustee remuneration that breaches trustee benefit rules.

In addition to these latest provisions, this short webinar will examine the Charity Commission’s enhanced powers to regulate the use of charity names, which came into force in 2023.

Consideration will also be given to the Charity Tribunal’s new power to make authorised costs orders.
