Introduction
The Insurance Conduct Sourcebook (‘ICOBS’) has been around since around 2008.
It is principled based regulation that is at the cornerstone of a consumer’s journey in respect of non-investment insurance business.
However, the different actors in the insurance industry from insurers to brokers and claims handlers now need to consider ICOBS from the perspective of a 21st century lens.
In particular, ICOBS needs to be considered in light of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Consumer Duty which came into effect on 31 July 2023 and given that we live in an ever increasingly digitised and fraught world.
This new virtual classroom seminar will examine ICOBS with reference to current affairs, relevant policy, case law and Financial Ombudsman Service decisions.
The session will focus on the consumer journey, from sales and providing information to consumers to the cancellation of policies and claims.
