Introduction
The UK government has said that they plan to develop a code of practice that would set out the process by which employees can exercise their right to switch off. In their ‘Make Work Pay’ document, the government refers to the approaches taken in Ireland and Belgium as options that the UK might mirror.
‘Switching off’ means that the employer would not be able to make contact with an employee outside of their normal working hours. There is a concern that the increase in home working that arose due to Covid has resulted in a blurring of the distinction between home and work life, and therefore employees are not getting adequate rest.
In this short webinar we look at what employers should be thinking about to make sure that employees do get adequate breaks from work.
