SRA Competency B

Introduction

Threshold is a central feature in care proceedings.

Unless threshold is crossed, no public law orders can be made and the burden is on the local authority to demonstrate that threshold is crossed using a clear and concise threshold document. A properly drafted threshold document must be compliant with the principles set out in Re A (A Child) but applying these principles in practice can be challenging.

This virtual classroom seminar will unpick the principles set out in Re A and explain, with examples, how to apply them in practice. It will also consider thresholds that do not comply with Re A and how these can be identified and challenged by those representing parents.

Throughout this live session, you will have the opportunity to practice what you have learnt using a real-world example.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • The principles of Re A and how to apply them in practice
  • Common threshold mistakes and how to avoid them
  • How to recognise and challenge non-Re A compliant thresholds

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
